Most lemongrass essential oil sold in bulk has passed through three or four pairs of hands before it reaches a manufacturer: farmer, village aggregator, regional trader, exporter. Every link adds margin — and subtracts traceability. Herbistry's lemongrass supply works differently: we are linked directly to cultivation and field distillation, and the photographs on this site are from that real supply chain, not stock imagery.
What "farmer-linked" actually means here
Fresh lemongrass is cut and charged into steam-distillation stills located at the farm cluster itself. Distilling fresh, close to harvest, matters: lemongrass loses oil yield and profile quality when the cut grass sits and ferments in transit. Working at the source lets us plan harvest-to-still timing rather than accepting whatever a trading desk happens to hold.
Why buyers should care
- Traceability. We can tell you where a lot came from — which matters increasingly for export buyers whose own customers ask origin questions.
- Batch character. Fewer intermediaries means fewer opportunities for blending, stretching or mishandling between still and drum.
- Consistency planning. Direct visibility of harvest cycles helps us discuss availability and indicative volumes honestly instead of quoting first and sourcing later.
- Farm value. A shorter chain returns more value to the growing end — a durable supply base is a commercial advantage, not just a feel-good line.
What we still verify with documents
Direct sourcing is not a substitute for analysis. Relevant lemongrass batches are evaluated internally through GC-MS, while COA and SDS remain batch-dependent. GC-MS report sharing can be discussed for selected high-volume or export enquiries. Origin story plus batch paperwork — buyers deserve both.
The same model behind our palmarosa
Our palmarosa essential oil follows the same farmer-and-distillery-linked model in Gujarat, giving fragrance and incense manufacturers a rosy, geraniol-rich oil with the same traceability logic. For other oils in our portfolio we work through vetted producer relationships, and we say so — we only make the direct-sourcing claim where it is literally true.
Talk to the source
If your production uses lemongrass or palmarosa oil at scale — for incense, fragrance, soap, cleaning or repellent-positioned products — message Herbistry on WhatsApp with your monthly volume and application. You will be talking to the people connected to the field and the still, not a trading desk.
